Swojan Raghubanshi is a Dance Artist, Dance Director, Choreographer and Music Video Actor. He is also a composer and director of Dance-Drama. Raghubanshi is the founder of Classic Culture Center, Sundhara Lalitpur, Nepal. He is an expert artiste in various dance forms including Kartik Nacha, Charya Dance, Nepali Folk Dance, Mask Dance, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Salsa and Filmy Dance. He has performed Nepali dance forms at National and International stages in various countries like India, China, Tibet, Bhutan, Thailand, Spain, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. He has organized several National and International programs and was the Resource Person to many Workshops organized by both the Government of Nepal as well as Private Organizations.
Raghubanshi has done the first Solo Dance Performance in the history of Nepal, at the event organized by Sanskritik Sansthan Naacha Ghar , Jamal (Full Ownership Of Nepal Government) and Dance Director Association Nepal, Lalitpur Branch on 17th June 2018 (2075 Asar 3) at Naacha Ghar where he performed various forms of dance such as:
- Namaskar Dance and Guru
- Kartik Nacha (380 year-old Mallakalin dance) – Kumar dance.
- Charya Dance-Pancha Kapal (Mahakal) Dance.
- Folk Dance – Jhaure Dance.
- Western – Salsa Dance.
- Bharatanatyam – Kirtanam (Bo Samboo).
- Kathak – Traditional Kathak including Kaliya daman Gadbhav.
- Closing Dance -Aama (Mother) Dance
This was the first time that Kartik Nacha (solo) and Pancha Kapal Dance were performed on-stage in Nepal.
Raghubanshi is a recipient of National Youth Talent Award 2076 (2019A.D) awarded by Ministry Of Youth And Sports, Government OF Nepal. He has also received the National Youth Talent Award 2075 (2018 AD) from Rashtriya Nagarik Bikash Samaj. In 2014, Raghubanshi was awarded The Most Gorgeous Award for Dance, at the 9th Surin International Folklore festival in Thailand. In 2022 AD, he received the award for The Best Dance Director at the 2nd Nepal Bhasa Star Music Video Awards-2022. In 2023 AD, he was presented with the International Exquisite Award at the International Cultural Harmony “DESH RAAG” in Bhilai, India.
Raghubanshi is the first person to be admitted to the Degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts in Bharatanatyam from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He is also the Gold-medalist in both Junior Diploma and Senior Diploma in Kathak from Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad (Kalanidhi Indira Sangeet Mahavidhyalay, Nepal)
He is the winner of Indian Classical Dance Competition at the International Taj Rang Festival 2019 in Agra, India. He has also won the First Prize at the National Kathak Dance Competition organized by Sanatan Dharma Sewa Samiti in 2015 AD.
Swojan Raghubanshi is currently pursuing his Ph.D in Bharatanatyam from Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh (India) where he is a recipient of the Silver Jubilee Scholarship Award from Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR).
